Bea Kristi Laus burst onto the scene a few years back when her lo-fi bedroom recordings went viral. Her first release as Beabadoobee, the pop-filled LP Fake It Flowers — which NME dubbed “the sound of a modern guitar great in bloom” — dropped in 2020. The singer-songwriter, born in the Phillipines and raised in London, returned this past July with her sophomore long-player, Beatopia, which also earned wide acclaim: “Beatopia highlights an artist who has matured quickly,” raves The Line of Best Fit, “honing her initial work while impressively expanding her aesthetic scope.” Once the new tunes arrived, Beabdoobee hit the road, and just two dates into the North American leg of her world tour, she was in New York City to spend Friday night at Brooklyn Steel.
