Trombone Shorty’s current tour, Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown, employs an it-takes-a-village approach — and thankfully so. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue descended upon SummerStage in Central Park on a beautiful Monday night with Tank and the Bangas, Big Freedia, and Dumpstaphunk, George Porter Jr.and Cyril Nevilleperforming the music of the Meters(and it must be asked: What’s the point of having a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if it doesn’t have the Meters in it?), and the Soul Rebels in tow, bringing a heavy dose of NOLA music to NYC. Such a night, indeed.
